That is their job
To be cheered
To be larger than life
But it is more than hard
Being others dreams

Soaks up strength
By squeezing it from souls below

Writing Prompt: Always the Last to Know
I'm always the last to know
When my eyes light up
Or I look away
I'm always the last to know
And it's always aggravating
People tell me
What I should know
And they're always rather provoking
I"m always the last to know
And maybe it's because
I don't listen to people
Who tell me how I should feel
Doesn't matter if I do or not
Hearing someone talk to me
As if they can see straight through me
Makes me shut off and back away
That's the best way
To ensure I'll never know
Because it makes me feel caged
And cornered

Holes for Ears
I live in fear,
because I was torn ear to ear.
Or rather my ears were torn off,
after being repeatedly told off.
Or maybe I was told, "I'm off."
It's hard to remember and hard to know,
because I can never hear again.
Unless my ears regrow.
But the holes that are left
left better access to my brain.
Hopefully by seeing straight in there,
I can better diagnose the pain.
But instead I think I see just mush,
thoughts and firing and lots of stuff.
But I don't see love, I don't see sane.
I just see stuff you call my brain.
I wish I could still hear,
but I can still see your smile.
And if they tear out my eyes,
you'll still be smi

Really good imagery, and the metaphor is strong two. Good job, both of thee!
Unfortunately, as a result of being out of it, I probably can't critique or comment as insightfully as one would hope. This is not stuff I'd normally read, but I do think that the extended metaphor was quite good, and the transitions from one writer to another was seamless, if I can say. I didn't notice much of a difference or it didn't feel fragmented, which I suppose is good...?
