Reprise

Old friend, you haven't changed at all:
you've been frozen in time, awaiting
the conversations I promised you.

Still, you maintain serenity,
your demeanor is calm
and your countenance still.

Still, you have remained hopeful.
I return with an open mind
and you bring our blank slate:
This will be our new beginning.

Old friend, I owe you adventures:
you are ready to hike new trails,
to scale new cliffs and discover
what awaits us on the other side.

And I, my friend, am just as eager.
